Colorado Hunter Gored By Moose After Shooting, Missing It

The man was bowhunting in Larimer County when he was attacked by the moose, according to police.

LARIMER COUNTY, CO — A hunter was seriously injured on Tuesday when he was gored by a moose while bow hunting in Larimer County, according to authorities.

In a news release, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said deputies received an emergency SOS call from a GPS device around noon. Through the device, the hunter told police he had been seriously injured by a moose.

According to authorities, the hunter told deputies he attempted to shoot a bull moose but missed. The bull then charged and gored him, police said.

Following the attack, the hunter hiked more than a mile-and-a-half to Long Draw Road near Highway 14, police said. Passers-by helped the hunter down the road and were able to flag down deputies.

The hunter was flown by helicopter to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Larimer County is located in the northeast corner of Colorado, just south of the Wyoming border.
