A 21-year-old Illinois woman fell to her death near a waterfall in Rocky Mountain National Park, officials said.

ALLENSPARK, CO — A 21-year-old Illinois woman fell to her death near a waterfall at Rocky Mountain National Park.
The woman, identified as Lydia Davidsmeier of Virginia, Illinois, fell Thursday at Adams Falls along the East Inlet Trail. Her body was recovered Thursday evening, Kyle Patterson, public affairs officer for the park, told media outlets.
The nearly mile-long out-and-back Adams Falls Trail is near Grand Lake and is generally considered an easy hike, according to the AllTrails outdoor recreation app.

The hike leads to a small waterfall and large glaciated valley with a river.
Patterson told The Denver Channel that visitors should avoid streams, rivers and waterfalls, particularly during spring runoff or when rocks are slippery. The water is cold and can be "deceivingly deep and swift" with powerful currents, Patterson said.
