The University of Northern Colorado brought together two February traditions—Valentine's Day and American Heart Month

The University of Northern Colorado brought together two February traditions—Valentine’s Day and American Heart Month—through a campus event that encouraged students to celebrate relationships while focusing on heart health.

Holmes Dining Hall featured a themed dinner with heart-healthy options, including nutrient-rich salmon fillets known for their cardiovascular benefits. Retail outlets offered chocolate-covered strawberries and cupcakes, highlighting dark chocolate’s antioxidant properties and its role in a balanced diet.

Beyond food, the event encouraged creativity and connection. At a “sculpt and sip” social gathering, students enjoyed house-made mocktails while painting mini canvases or molding clay sculptures, providing a break from academics in a relaxed setting.

By blending love and wellness, the event reinforced the importance of caring for relationships while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It gave students an opportunity to connect, learn, and focus on their heart health in a supportive environment.
