Teen arrested in connection with November homicide in Aurora (kktv.com) — Aurora police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a November shooting near East 17th Avenue and Beeler Street that killed 22-year-old Aurora resident Jibreel Nile. The teen faces first-degree murder and handgun charges and is being held without bond. Investigators are still seeking tips, and residents can share information anonymously with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. 
2. New Aurora City Council to address homelessness grants, retail growth (sentinelcolorado.com) — Aurora’s new City Council is set to tackle homelessness grants, snow and ice control, and a major retail strategy in a packed study session and meeting. Members will decide how to divide limited homeless-service funds, review plans for the Aurora Regional Navigation Campus, and hear updates on East Colfax’s Downtown Development Authority and the Build Up Aurora infrastructure program, all shaping daily life across the city.

Colorado Health Insurance Prices Expected to Rise; Dead Birds Test Positive for Avian Flu in Southern Colorado State Park; Telluride Ski Patrol Union Rejects Contract with Ski Mountain (kgnu.org) — State regulators have indefinitely tabled a major oil and gas well pad in Aurora’s Lowry Ranch plan, delaying 32 proposed wells near two elementary schools and more than 10,000 nearby households. The move follows years of resident pushback, even as Coloradans also face looming health insurance premium hikes and wildlife officials track avian flu in southeastern Colorado.
4. Mims talks mental health with students, sits down with FOX31 (kdvr.com) — Broncos receiver Marvin Mims Jr. spent Monday at Aurora’s Arkansas Elementary School, answering kids’ questions and stressing the importance of mental health. He highlighted his support for Aurora Mental Health & Recovery through the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” campaign, with his signed cleats being auctioned to raise funds for local services. 5. Attorney Suffers Spinal Fractures After Shocking Assault During Colorado Court Hearing (k99.com) — A recent court hearing tied to a fatal crash in Aurora, where a 12-year-old boy on a scooter was struck and killed on East Iliff Avenue, turned violent when the child’s uncle allegedly slammed the defense attorney to the floor. The 69-year-old lawyer reportedly suffered spinal fractures and a shattered pelvis, and the uncle is now jailed on an assault charge.
