$50,000 To Be Awarded in Zero Waste Grants

Applications for funding accepted through October 5.

Boulder County's Resource Conservation Division has once again allocated $50,000 in grant money for community projects that help landfill diversion and waste reduction. Applications for funding must be received by October 5. If prospective applicants have questions about the program, queries can be submitted on the Boulder County website through September 14.

The program has been active since 1997, and according to a Boulder County press release, it has distributed more than one million dollars in funding for local education and infrastructure projects. Each grant is a minimum of $1,000 and maximum of $10,000. Local governments, non-profit organizations, school districts, schools, private companies, and individuals are all eligible for the program as long at the scope of their work takes place within Boulder or Broomfield County.

Last year, the county received 22 applications and awarded nine grants. Among the winners were the City of Longmont for a project to place zero-waste facilities at two St. Vrain Valley School District sports fields, KGNU Radio for a public education media campaign, and Vessel Revolution for a citywide reusable mug campaign in Boulder.
