The move secures this key arts hub’s future, strengthens its ability to fund upgrades, and reinforces its role supporting hundreds of local groups and preserving Boulder’s grassroots creative culture.

2. $956,277 worth of bicycles stolen in Colorado city of 108,000 residents thus far in 2025 (denvergazette.com) — If you bike in Boulder, nearly $1 million in reported bicycle thefts this year—and 494 stolen bikes—show how serious the problem remains, even with a 34% drop from 2024. The city’s detailed public tracking system and push for registration may boost reporting, while experts urge secure storage, strong locks, and Bike Index registration to improve recovery odds.

Boulder jury convicts Jimmy West in murder of 19-year-old Zaria Hardee (boulderreportinglab.org) — A Boulder County jury has convicted Jimmy West of second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Zaria Hardee and a judge sentenced him to 96 years in prison. Prosecutors relied on physical evidence tied to West’s camp and testimony from Boulder authorities, while the defense tried to raise doubts about who committed the killing. Friends and community members continue to mourn Hardee’s loss.

5. CHSAA's 2025 all-state volleyball team from the Front Range (dailycamera.com) — Boulder volleyball fans can celebrate junior libero/setter/defensive specialist Maja Giecold earning CHSAA all-state honorable mention after racking up 286 digs this season.
