Beer Worth Hiking For: A Backcountry Taproom
Boulder's Upslope Brewing Company promises "beer worth sweating for."

Upslope Brewing is upping the ante on what it means to be a part of the craft beer scene in Colorado. On October 6, the Boulder brewery will debut its new, limited edition Spruce Tip IPA at the top of Fraser's Grand Park. The fourth annual edition of Upslope's Backcountry Tap House event, it will require a 2.5 mile hike for prospective revelers to take part - but the company's event page promises "one heck of a view."
The event is a partnership with Leave No Trace, and all proceeds from the $15 entry ticket will go to the non-profit's 2019 initiatives. Participants will get one can of the never-before-tasted Spruce Tip and three other cans of Upslope's traditional favorites. Everyone has to hike out by 5 p.m. and no overnight camping is allowed.
"Every Backcountry Tap Room event will be held at a different remote location in time to debut a brand new beer," explains Upslope's website. "These hidden gems reward those willing to sweat."
