New CU President's Contract Has Hefty Salary, But Many Duties
The contract for the University of Colorado's new president includes nearly $2.5 million over three years, but includes many duties.
BOULDER, CO — The new president of the University of Colorado system can be paid $2.5 million over three years, per his contract, reports say. Regardless of the high price tag, the contract provides some hefty protections to the university, according to a Daily Camera report.
Kennedy's contract includes a $650,000 pay for the first year and $850,000 for the last two, including a $200,000 bonus if certain objectives are met, the Camera report says.
The Camera reported James Finkelstein, a professor at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, as saying Kennedy's is a “very good contract in terms of the protections that it offers the university.”

Included in the contract are 18 responsibilities and duties for Kennedy, which Finkelstein described as "by far the most detailed and comprehensive" set of duties he, or his colleague Judith Wilde, have seen, the Camera reported.
