Train Ignites Grass Fire
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train sparked several blazes between Boulder and Longmont.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO - Local firefighters responded quickly to quell several grass fires sparked by the passing of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train this afternoon. The fires were located west of the train tracks between Niwot Road and North 63rd Street. Boulder County Dispatch Center received calls alerting representatives to the blazes at approximately 12:24 p.m., according to a report from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies immediately responded, along with firefighters from Mountain View Fire, Boulder Rural Fire, City of Boulder Fire and The County Fire Duty Officer. The Sheriff's Office took the opportunity to issue a reminder to the community that fire dangers are high and to urge all residents to act with caution.
Today's fires were contained to dried grass, and no structures were threatened.
