Intruder With Knife Shot By Westminster Police
A man allegedly holding a knife was shot by two officers investigating a burglary in the 3300 block of 97th Avenue.

WESTMINSTER, CO – A man was fatally shot and students at a nearby school were placed on lockout Tuesday in Westminster.
Around 1 p.m., Westminster dispatchers got a call about a burglary-in-progress in the 3300 block of 97th Avenue. The resident said "he was locked in his bedroom and a male who was armed with a knife was in his home," Westminster police said in a statement.
Officers arrived at the home and observed one apartment with the door forced open.

A second door was slightly open and as officers began to check this apartment a male, armed with a knife, charged at the officers. Two officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect, police said Tuesday.
The original resident was not harmed.

The shot man was pronounced dead on scene. Police said his identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s office.
Rocky Mountain Elementary at 3350 W. 99th Ave. was placed on lockout.
Police said the 17th Judicial Critical Incident Investigation team will be investigating the officer involved shooting. Both officers will be placed on paid administrative leave, as the department rules require.

Ofcs checked an open door to an apartment when a male armed with a knife charged at them. Two Ofcs fired their weapons striking the male. Male deceased on scene. Ofcs not injured. Rocky Mt. Elem was placed on precautionary lockout. No ongoing danger to the school or public.
