Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:
- The Colorado Springs Police Department was able to foil a burglary on Sunday. The department responded to a burglary in progress call for the 2800 block of North Chestnut Street around 6:30 a.m. The responding officers arrested Shane Purvis and an unidentified woman on felony charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and various other charges. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
- A Colorado Springs teenager was allegedly killed in a breakroom by her co-worker on Jun. 11. Riley Whitelaw, 17-years-old, had previously complained about her co-worker Joshua Johnson, 28-years-old, to Walgreens store managers. He reportedly blocked surveillance cameras in the breakroom by stacking boxes. Johnson was arrested with cuts and bruises on his body. He is being held at the El Paso County jail without bond. - Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity has received a substantial donation from Love in Action. The funds will be used to build 30 affordable homes near Colorado Springs' Powers and Galley. To qualify for a home with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, an applicant must qualify based on income and need while supplying 200 hours of construction work. (KOAA News 5)
