Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. A recent study found elevated levels of PFAS in the blood of residents living in the Security-Widefield area of Colorado Springs. The study was launched by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2019. PFAS are considered forever chemicals since they do not break down naturally in the environment. The elevated levels are reportedly due to untreated water. (Colorado Public Radio)
  2. Colorado Springs is considering a plan to make Platte Avenue and Boulder a one-way street. Residents of the Middle Shooks Run Neighborhood do not like the plan due to speeding, hospital access, and safety concerns. The final proposal will likely be presented to the City Council by the end of this year. (Colorado Public Radio)
  3. An ongoing drought is creating brown spots at many Colorado Springs parks. The biggest example is at America the Beautiful Park where the lawn is riddled with dead spots. The city currently spends about $1.3 million each year watering various locations. (KRDO)
