  1. The PLACE and Cohen-Esrey Development Group are partnering to build a housing complex for homeless youth in Colorado Springs. The 50-unit apartment community project was awarded $1,198,000 of 9 percent Low-Income Housing Tax Credits by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority Tax Credit Allocation Committee. Developers hope to break ground on the project later this year. (KRDO)
  2. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is celebrating raising $4 million through its Quarters for Conservation program. The program was first launched in 2008 as a fundraiser to benefit a range of wildlife and conservation initiatives. Previous causes include a giraffe conservation project in Uganda, on-site breeding programs for black-footed ferrets and Wyoming toads, and more. (KRDO)
  3. A local woman has been charged with stealing $240,000 from Medicaid through fraudulent billing practices. Martha Sutherland is accused of routinely filing claims and receiving reimbursements for services that were never provided between 2017 and 2021. She faces charges of theft, which is a class three felony, and cybercrime, which is a class four felony. (KOAA News 5)
