Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. The Colorado Springs Police Department reports that one of its officers was punched in the face during a traffic stop. The incident began on Sunday when an officer pulled a car over for littering. The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant and the littering passenger punched the officer. The passenger now faces Assaulting an Officer charges. (KRDO)
  2. The Colorado Springs Charter Academy is under investigation for alleged financial and ethics violations. The school was issued a cease-and-desist order by the Senior Assistant Attorney General on Apr. 22. The investigation is centered around board member Summer Groubert's financial access and authority.   3. The first spring birth at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a Rocky Mountain goat calf. Lena gave birth to the calf on May 4.
