Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. Some of Colorado Springs' best chefs will be competing in the Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race" competition. Houston Greenlee, Gio Palacio, and DJ Williams will join forces as team Southern Pride Asian Fusion. The Colorado Springs natives will be competing against eight other teams during the show's Sunday premiere. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
  2. A significant rockslide has closed Colorado Springs' Section 16's scenic loop trail. The trail from High Drive and the main trailhead at Gold Camp Road has been closed after trailer-sized boulders destroyed a footbridge. There is no timeline on when the trail might be reopened.   3. The federal government is giving Colorado Springs $2.5 million to address two aging railroad bridges. The money will be used to fund engineering and environmental work for bridges over south Tejon Street and South Nevada Avenue. Colorado Springs' deputy Public Works director reports that the city has been making temporary improvements on the bridges throughout the years but they are in dire need of replacement at this point.
