Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:
- Colorado Springs City Council President Tom Strand has announced his candidacy for Colorado Springs mayor. Strand has made public safety the cornerstone of his campaign. He also plans to update the city's wildfire evacuation plan, hire additional police officers, and build two new fire stations. The mayor position will be open since current Mayor John Suthers is term-limited. (Colorado Springs Gazette)

- Two weekend shootings have left one man dead and six others with injuries in Colorado Springs. The first shooting happened at Babilonia Bar Friday night. The second shooting occurred in the 3800 block of East Pikes Avenue on Saturday morning and resulted in one man dying. The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking anyone with information about either shooting to come forward. (KRDO)
