1 Killed, 4 Injured In Downtown Denver Shooting
Police confirmed one person is dead and four were hospitalized in a LoDo shooting. Witnesses said a man fired into a crowd on the sidewalk.

DENVER, CO — Multiple victims are hospitalized and one person was dead in a shooting in downtown Denver, police said. A shooter is still at large, police said Monday night.
Around 4 p.m. Monday, police tweeted that they were investigating a shooting at 21st and Lawrence streets, south of Coors Field. As of Monday evening, traffic is re-routed and police have taped off the area.
Police Spokesman Doug Schepman originally said four people had been shot, and one had died. Later police confirmed that four people had been admitted to the hospital with "non-life threatening" injuries.

An eyewitness told the Denver Post that he saw a man get out of a car and shoot into a crowd of "homeless or indigent people." One of the people in the group returned fire, Hisam Derani said in an interview Monday night.
“Oh my God, oh my God,” Derani told the Denver Post. “I saw him (shooter) approach the crowd.”

The shooter then got back into the car and sped away. Derani told reporter Kieran Nicholson that the group on the sidewalk dispersed, walking away and leaving injured people on the ground. Other witnesses ran over to help the injured people.
No suspect information was immediately available, Schepman said.
Schepman said he was not able to say whether the shooting was connected to the homicide of a transient person nearby on Sunday. He also said he was unable to say whether the shooter was known to the victims.
The investigation was continuing and police would be talking to witnesses, he said.
