Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Large street racing groups continue to gather in Colorado and slow traffic, shut down major streets and put everyone on the road in danger, Colorado State Patrol said. The agency has received around 2,700 reports of street racing over the past year, and offers guidelines for what you should do if you're caught among street racers. (Patch)
- A suspect was arrested three times in 24 hours, and a Denver police officer begged a judge to not release the suspect, CBS reports. (CBS Denver)
- Coloradans are ensuring their votes count by using new technology, first launched in 2020, to fix mistakes on their ballots. During last year's election, 11,085 ballots that otherwise may not have been counted, were cured or fixed using the technology, state elections officials said. (Patch)
- Gov. Jared Polis, whose wealth is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions, paid nothing in federal income taxes between 2013 and 2015, according to a ProPublica report published Thursday. Polis called on President Donald Trump in 2017 to release his tax returns, but then Polis' transparency demands grew quiet during his run for governor, and he declined to disclose his returns, according to the report.
