2 Nabbed Allegedly Stealing Auto Repair Equipment

Denver police arrested two men, one out on bail, for allegedly trying to steal equipment from a tire store.

DENVER, CO – Two men caught by police Wednesday night as they allegedly tried to steal equipment from a Denver tire store are being held in Denver County jail on no bond. One man was out on bail for assaulting a pregnant woman a week earlier.

Johnnie Harris, 54 and Timothy Maupin, 39, were taken into custody around 8:35 p.m. Jan. 30 after police were summoned to a tire store in the 2000 block of North Federal Boulevard.

Harris and Maupin were caught allegedly moving a large tire changing machine, valued at $2,000, onto a trailer with front and back license plates covered, a probable cause statement said. Managers of the store had not given them permission to move the machine.
