DENVER, CO – The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment issued an air quality warning for the Denver area through 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. An Action Day for Particulates and Visibility is in effect throughout the region.

Indoor burning restrictions and a request to limit driving will be in place through at least 4 p.m. on Wednesday. A strong inversion weather pattern will limit atmospheric mixing and ventilation, according to the CDPHE, and will result in poor visibility and fine particulate matter in the unhealthy for sensitive groups category, the agency said.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion on Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the northern Front Range region, and particularly within the Denver metro area, the agency said.
