Colorado Extends Large Coronavirus Vaccination Sites

COLORADO — Four of Colorado's largest COVID-19 vaccination sites and dozens of smaller clinics have been extended through next week, state public health officials announced Friday. The extensions come as hundreds of unvaccinated Coloradans remain hospitalized.

As of Friday, 649 unvaccinated patients were hospitalized in our state, and 180 vaccinated patients were hospitalized, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

"Once again, this remains a pandemic of the unvaccinated," said Scott Bookman, COVID-19 incident commander with the agency.

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Park parking lot in Commerce City will offer vaccines through Tuesday. The large vaccine sites at the Aurora Municipal Center in Aurora, Southwest Plaza Mall in Littleton, and Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs will each offer up to 1,000 doses per day through Sunday and will then remain open with a 250-dose-per-day capacity, health officials said.

“We continue to work hard to make sure these life-saving COVID-19 vaccines are available to everyone without barriers,” said Lt. Col. Jamie Pieper, Colorado National Guard and senior advisor for COVID-19 response, in a statement.

“We are proud that more than 70% of all eligible Coloradans are fully vaccinated, and we know our work is not yet done. The pandemic is still with us, and vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community. We encourage Coloradans to visit one of these clinics or one of the more than 1,680 vaccine providers throughout the state to receive a vaccine.”

State public health officials are asking Coloradans to refrain from calling the below vaccine clinic locations for information — instead call the state vaccine hotline at 1-877-268-2926. The hotline is available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
