Construction Crew Finds Human Bones On Aurora Site: Police

A crew in southeast Aurora found what appear to be human remains while excavating, police said.

AURORA, CO – Human bones were found by a construction crew while excavating a site in southeast Aurora Wednesday, the Aurora police said.

On Feb. 13th, around 10 a.m., the Aurora Police Department received a call from a construction crew that they located what appeared to be human remains while excavating in the area of East Smoky Hill Parkway and South Powhaton Road, police said in a statement.

Officers from the Aurora Major Crimes Homicide Unit and staff from the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office investigated the scene, which was blocked off until a "forensic dig" can be completed as part of the investigation, police said.

Police did not identify the person found, or say how old the bones appeared to be. The Arapahoe County coroner’s office will be conducting an autopsy on the remains.
