COVID-19 Booster Shots: Where To Find Them In Colorado

COLORADO — Booster shots, available at pharmacies and clinics in Colorado, are the best defense against COVID-19 illnesses as the omicron variant of the coronavirus spreads across the country, according to health officials.

Breakthrough COVID-19 cases from the omicron variant — infections among the vaccinated — are less common among people who have received their third vaccination shots, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Vaccines and booster doses are free, and no identification, proof of residency, or insurance is required.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, said Friday the Pfizer and Moderna booster shots work well against the omicron variant and that there’s no need for a specific vaccine to fight it.

Several of the large community vaccination sites are offering up to 1,000 doses per day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Advance appointments are available and strongly encouraged, and the sites can accommodate walk-up vaccinations as inventory allows, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said.

All the community vaccination sites offer Pfizer for Coloradans ages 12 and older, Pfizer for children ages 5-11, Johnson & Johnson, and Moderna doses, the agency said. Anyone over the age of 18 who is six months past their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series or two months beyond a dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should get a booster dose, officials said.

COVID-19 vaccines are now available at additional community sites offering varying capacities, including:

• Ball Arena, 1000 Chopper Cir, Denver (500 doses per day)
• Jefferson Marketplace, 8194 S. Kipling Pkwy., Littleton (250 doses per day)
• Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S Santa Fe Drive, Littleton (250 doses per day)
• Citadel Mall, 680 Citadel Dr E, Colorado Springs (parking lot next to JCPenney) (250 doses per day)
• La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave, Durango (250 doses per day)
• Mesa County Community Services Building, 510 29 1/2 Road, Grand Junction (250 doses per day)
• Weld County Clerk and Recorder Building, 1250 H Street, Greeley (250 doses per day)

You can get a vaccine at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Safeway, Cardinal, Costco, City Market, and King Soopers pharmacies. Most of these pharmacies take walk-ins and same-day appointments.

“Data has shown that vaccines and booster doses are the most effective way to protect against COVID-19 and help slow the spread of disease throughout the state. These clinics operate to make it easier for Coloradans to get COVID-19 vaccines and stay up to date on their booster dose.”
