DENVER, CO — School officials imposed a lockdown Monday at a Denver middle school after they discovered that a student had brought ammunition to campus, according to media reports. The lockdown at the Hill Campus of Arts and Sciences was lifted shortly before 12:30 p.m. following a police search of the school, which did not turn up any firearms, a police spokesman told KUSA-TV 9News.

The police are investigating why the student brought the ammunition to school, 9News reported. They did not identify the type of ammunition the student was carrying, such as whether it was for a handgun, shotgun or another type of weapon.

The middle school, at 451 Clermont St., was first placed on lockout status at about 10:15 a.m. Monday, a spokesman for the Denver Public School District told 9News.
