'I Got Him. I Shot Him!' Man Arrested In Park Hill Homicide

Michael Pikes, 31, was arrested after police found Jacy Kadison-Marshall, 37, killed by gunshot wounds in his apartment.

DENVER, CO – Police on Monday released the name of a man accused in a fatal shooting late Saturday night in Denver's Park Hill neighborhood.

Michael Anthony Pikes, 31, was arrested after police found a wounded man in his apartment around 11:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Filbert Court. The man later died.

On Monday, the Office of the Denver Medical Examiner identified the man as Jacy Kadison-Marshall, 37. Kadison-Marshall's cause of death was listed as homicide and manner of death was determined to be gunshot wounds.

Police responded to a 911 call and heard multiple "rapid fire" gunshots near an apartment building at 1559 N. Filbert Court, an arrest affidavit said.

They entered the building announcing themselves and met Pikes who reportedly yelled, "Thank you for coming, I got him, I shot him and he is right there in my apartment room," an arrest affidavit said. Pikes was identified as the person who made the 911 call, police said.

The victim was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Pikes told police he "shot the victim several times because he thought the victim was armed," the arrest affidavit said.

Pikes is being held in Denver County Jail on no bond facing first-degree murder charges, an online inmate roster said.
