Student Found Dead After Shooting 2 At Denver School: Officials
The student's vehicle was discovered in Park County, with a body nearby, according to the sheriff's office.

DENVER, CO — The 17-year-old East High School student who shot and seriously injured two administrators Wednesday was found dead in a wooded mountain area outside Denver, according to the local coroner's office.
Authorities said Wednesday the teen's vehicle was found in Park County with a body nearby. Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw said the body was discovered Wednesday not far from the student’s car in a remote mountain area about 50 miles southwest of Denver, near the small town of Bailey. The town had been ordered to shelter in place while while officers from a number of agencies including the FBI combed the forest.
The shooting occurred around 9:50 a.m., according to Chief Ron Thomas. The student, identified as 17-year-old Austin Lyle, was undergoing a daily pat-down and search in the school's front office as part of his safety plan when he fired several shots, striking two deans, and fled, authorities said.

Lyle's vehicle was discovered, abandoned, on County Road 68 in Bailey.
Wednesday's shooting left one victim in critical condition and undergoing surgery, and another in serious but stable condition, Thomas said. Paramedics were at the school when the shooting occurred, responding to an allergic reaction of a student who was also taken to a hospital, and were able to provide immediate aid to the victims, both of whom are men, according to authorities.

The school was on lockdown Wednesday morning, with all students being held in their third-period classrooms, according to the school district. A controlled release began around 11:30 a.m., with pickup at 17th Avenue and Esplanade. Students who drove to school were to be escorted to their cars and those who ride the bus were to be held until it arrived.
East will not be in session for the rest of the week and two armed officers will be at the school until the end of the year, according to Superintendent Alex Marrero, who said the school board’s Thursday meeting would be replaced instead with a safety discussion.
The news comes three weeks after the death of 16-year-old East student Luis Garcia, who was shot near campus Feb. 13, according to the district.
