Empower Field At Mile High Fire: Smoke Billows As Seats Burn
Multiple rows of third-level seats were ablaze Thursday afternoon at Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos.

DENVER, CO — Crews extinguished a fire Thursday afternoon that appeared to scorch rows of seats and a suite, and sent a plume of smoke billowing out of Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos.
The fire burned in the third level seating area, the Denver Fire Department said. A suite was also damaged.

The blaze ignited in a construction zone near the East Club Lounge, stadium officials tweeted.
"That area of the stadium was quickly evacuated as a precaution and there were no injuries sustained," the stadium said.

A spokesperson for the fire department told Andrew Mason of DNVR and Mile High Sports that more than 1,000 square feet burned.
The plume of smoke could be seen from miles away, including from Interstate 25.
Firefighters gained control of the blaze as of 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
"Sprinklers attempted to stop the fire, but firefighters were needed to complete extinguishment," the fire department tweeted. "Heavy fire & smoke was found on our arrival."
The cause of the inferno wasn't immediately known, fire officials said.
Two events are planned at the stadium next month: MONSTER JAM on April 23 and Monster Energy AMA Supercross on April 30. A Luke Combs country music concert is also planned May 21.
