AURORA, CO — The Aurora police arrested a woman Friday on hit-and-run charges stemming from the death of an elderly man on Thursday evening. Sandra Navarro, 34, has been accused of being behind the wheel of a car that fled the scene after striking a Hispanic pedestrian, who later succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

Navarro has been charged with two felonies: hit and run involving death and tampering with physical evidence. The police have not released the name or age of the victim.

The accident occurred at 6:20 p.m. Thursday on East Montview Boulevard at Elmira Street in North Aurora. The police issued a Medina Alert, which prompted an unidentified individual to tip them off to the location of the car that fled the scene.
