Fire Restrictions Lifted In Jeffco
Cold weather and wet snow are decreasing the chances of wildfire in JeffCo, the sheriff's office said. Open Space remains on a fire ban.

GOLDEN, CO – Break out the s'mores! It's OK to have a bonfire now in unincorporated Jefferson County. The cold and wet weather has allowed JeffCo Sheriff Jeff Shrader to lift the "temporary Stage 1 Fire Restriction order" for Jefferson County.
JeffCo Open Space is still not lifting their stricter Stage 2 restrictions, however. The means only gas grills and camp stoves are permitted in the park areas and no open fires or flames. There's no smoking allowed in the parks, except in the parking lots.
Cold, wet weather has tamped down the danger of wildfire along the foothills in Jefferson County. But the sheriff's office asks residents to still be vigilant and use caution when starting campfires, throwing away lit cigarettes or doing anything else that may cause sparks. Even firing weapons at outdoor monitored firing ranges can lead to uncontrollable wildfires that damage wildlife and property. Violators of fire restrictions can face fines of up to $600.
