Car Fire Fizzles Out In Front Of Lakewood Home

Her mother thought she was getting a tattoo removed, but a Lakewood woman may have been trying to set a Lexus ablaze.

LAKEWOOD, CO – A Lexus set aflame in front of a Lakewood home last week was quickly extinguished by firefighters from West Metro Fire Department.

Witnesses called the fire department when they saw a white 1998 Lexus 300 parked in the 1600 block of South Chase Court on fire around 9:20 a.m. Aug. 27. When police arrived, the fire was out and a few singed towels near the gas tank and on the front drivers seat were all that remained of the blaze.

The power breakers had been turned off in the house and the back door was wide open, police observed. The battery had also been removed from the Lexus.

A woman arrived and told investigators the car belonged to her 27-year-old daughter, who was supposedly at an appointment to have a tattoo removed. The mother told police the daughter had been having mental health issues.

Police examined a video from a doorbell camera and observed the daughter moving around the vehicle and near the front of the car. It was unclear what the daughter was doing.
