Car Theft Suspects Leads Police On Chase Before Arrest

Police said both elderly women injured in the Monday carjacking remained hospitalized as of Wednesday afternoon.

LAKEWOOD, CO — Two people were arrested after a police chase in connection to a Monday carjacking that left two elderly women badly injured in Lakewood.

In a news release, Lakewood police said the stolen Lincoln sedan was spotted around 2:55 p.m. When police tried to stop the drive, the car fled, leading police on a chase through Lakewood, Denver and Englewood.

Police said the driver stopped the car around 3:10 p.m. near East Hampden Avenue and South University Boulevard. The driver got out of the car and fled on foot.

The man, and a woman who was in the car, were both arrested. A third person, identified only as a person of interest, was also identified at the scene but not arrested.

Two women, from whom the car was stolen, were run over during the carjacking, police said. As of Wednesday afternoon, the 88- and 76-year-old women remained hospitalized.

The identities of the suspects were not available as of writing.
