Election 2021 In Jefferson County: 115K Ballots Returned

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — More than 115,000 ballots were returned as of Monday in Jefferson County ahead of Tuesday's election, officials announced.

George Stern, the county's clerk and recorder, is reminding voters that late mail-in ballots will not be accepted.

"Unless you are a military or overseas voter, postmarks do not count: We must receive your ballot by 7 p.m. tonight!" he said in a county elections update.

"All of our drop boxes – 36 in total – are open and are the fastest way to turn in your ballot. If you need to register to vote, obtain a replacement ballot, or access additional voting services, head to one of our in-person vote centers."

Ballot Return Report:

  • 37,972 from Democrats
  • 33,722 from Republicans
  • 43,105 from unaffiliated voters
  • 960 from minor party voters

You can use any drop box up until 7 p.m. on Election Day, or if you need additional services (registering to vote, getting a replacement ballot, etc.), you can use any vote center up until 7 p.m. as well.

The Jeffco Clerk and Recorder's Office took voters' questions and gave them a front-row seat to the county's ballot processing center via a Facebook Live video tour Monday. You can watch the live recording on the office's Facebook page if you were unable to join.

In past elections, Jeffco has had some of the highest ballot return rates in Colorado. The county pulled ahead of El Paso County over the past two weeks to take the No. 1 spot ahead of the Nov. 2 election.
