Lakewood Cop Arrested For Sexual Assault
Randall Shaun Butler is accused of raping a stranded woman in Denver. Police are asking any other victims to come forward.

DENVER, CO – A former Lakewood police officers is charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Denver, the Denver District Attorney's Office said. Lakewood police are asking the public to let them know if there are any other allegations of misconduct against the officer, who resigned Nov. 26 after an investigation.
Randall Shaun Butler, 37, was put on administrative leave at the Lakewood PD when the allegations were brought forward. He was arrested by Denver police Dec. 5.
The charges allege that on Nov. 16th, at 11 p.m., then-officer Butler stopped at the intersection of Sheridan Boulevard and 10th Avenue and offered to drive a stranded woman in his patrol car to a more secure location near her home. Instead, he allegedly drove the victim to a vacant parking lot near 25th and Sheridan and allegedly sexually assaulted her, driving away in his patrol car and leaving her in the parking lot.

The victim reported the attack using the Denver Police Department’s online system SeekThenSpeak.org to report the sexual assault, the DA's office said.
“The appalling and inexcusable conduct in no way embodies the Lakewood Police Department’s mission ‘to serve and protect with integrity, intelligence and initiative,’" said Lakewood Police Chief Daniel McCasky, in a press release. McCasky called the arrest "demoralizing to our organization... [O]ur top priorities are to remain committed to the safety and well-being of the victim, and to the pursuit of justice for our community," he said.

Lakewood Police asks the public to call their tip-line at 303-763-6800 if there are other known allegations against Butler.
Butler is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
