Lakewood Motel Kidnapping: Man Allegedly Held For 2 Days
Two people were arrested after a man told police he was taped to a chair at the Crossland Motel and beaten, kicked and tasered.

LAKEWOOD, CO – A man and woman are accused of allegedly holding a 47-year-old man prisoner in a Lakewood motel room for two days, and allegedly assaulting him while he was taped to a chair.
Darrius Deon Holmes, 36, and Ruby Arely Serrato, 20, were charged with multiple counts, including kidnapping, assault and aggravated robbery on Nov. 20, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office said Monday.
Lakewood police were called to the 11100th block of West 8th Avenue on Nov. 13 and found a man with numerous injuries, including two black eyes and a broken nose, who was taken to a local hospital. The victim told police he had been held prisoner in a hotel room for two nights and assaulted repeatedly, an arrest affidavit said.

Prosecutors said one of the defendants, Ruby Serrato, allegedly owed the victim $100. When he asked for repayment, she allegedly lured him Nov. 11 to the Crossland Motel at 715 Kipling St. to supposedly get the money. Instead, he was accosted by seven males wearing hoods in the hotel room and robbed of his belongings, an arrest affidavit said. Then, he told police, he was allegedly blindfolded, bound with rope, with his ankles taped to a chair. For two days, the victim told police he was beaten with a chain, tasered with a stun gun, punched and kicked.
The victim told police the alleged kidnappers demanded more cash to pay for the motel room. They allegedly drove him to his boss's home where he asked for $100. His boss refused to give him the money, he told police, but his boss's wife slipped him $50. He told police he mouthed the word "help" to his boss's wife, but he wasn't sure she understood.

On Nov. 13, the alleged kidnappers took him to his apartment, telling him they wanted to know where he lived, "so they could get him if he called police," the district attorney's office said. Once at his home, he managed to escape and located a neighbor who called 911.
Holmes and Serrato were arrested at the Crosslands Motel on Nov. 14. Holmes also allegedly had a baggie with 4 grams of meth on his person, the police report said.
In a police interview, Serrato denied that the victim was held against his will and said he threatened her via text to get his money back. She said the alleged victim came to the hotel on his own and refused to leave, the arrest affidavit said.
Both are being held in the Jefferson County Jail. Holmes is being held on $100,000 bond. Serrato is being held on $50,000 bond.
