Man Arrested In Connection With Deadly Lakewood Crash

LAKEWOOD, CO — A man was arrested in connection with a collision in Lakewood on Monday that left a woman dead, police said.

Daniel Howard Short, 64, faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI and drug possession, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Officers were called to the intersection of West Yale Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard around 8 p.m. after reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a driver.

Witnesses said the woman who was driving the motorcycle was struck by Short's vehicle. She has been identified as 59-year-old Julia Ann Pacheco of Centennial, police said.

"While the investigation is on-going, speed, drugs and alcohol are all being considered as factors in the crash," Lakewood police said in a news release.

Short was arrested at the crash site and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. His first court date has not yet been announced.
