Pancake, Shredding Events Planned by Lakewood Police Dept.

Eat a yummy pancake breakfast to help veterans and get your sensitive documents shredded this weekend.

LAKEWOOD, CO – You can dine on pancakes griddled up by Lakewood's Finest this weekend and then shred your private documents at two public events hosted this weekend by Lakewood police.

Friday, Aug. 24, join the Lakewood PD at their 20th Annual Cops That Cook pancake breakfast fundraiser at the city's Clement Recreation Center between 7 - 10 a.m.

Proceeds benefit Lakewood PD's Veteran's PACK program, which creates "street packs" for homeless veterans, and assists homeless vets who are transitioning into housing. In partnership with the Lakewood Elks Lodge 1777 and the Lakewood municipal court, the program hooks homeless veterans up with services and agencies. Then the group helps with basic household goods (dishes, cooking utensils, towels, sheets, etc.) Lakewood police also have special officer who themselves are veterans, who provide outreach to homeless and at-risk veterans.
