Lakewood Child Abduction Didn't Happen: Police
Students at Lasley Elementary reported seeing a young girl taken from the sidewalk, police said. An investigation couldn't corroborate that.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Update: Lakewood police said Wednesday that a possible child abduction near Lasley Elementary School was a false alarm.

Police said around 12:10 p.m the officers responded to the area of South Kendall Street and West Florida Avenue near Lasley Elementary school.

A police statement said students reported seeing a young girl "possibly taken from a sidewalk near the school in an unknown vehicle," a statement from the department said.
The girl was wearing a pink polka dot shirt and polka dot skirt or pants and "white sparkly shoes," police said.

The police department worked with the school to determine that all students were accounted for at Lasley Elementary and the surrounding Jeffco schools.
Officers conducted a door-to-door canvas in the area. Jefferson County Schools notified all parents of Lasley Elementary students of the situation.
