West Metro Veterans Fair Offers Health Screenings, Resources
More than 45 organizations that serve military veterans and their families will be on-hand to offer help to vets on Sept. 25.
LAKEWOOD, CO – Veterans and their family members are invited to enjoy some barbecue, get a health screening and find out about resources available at the West Metro Veteran's Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
The veterans fair is co-sponsored by the City of Lakewood and the Lakewood Elks Lodge #1777. The fair, which is free and open to the public takes place at the Elks Lodge at 1455 Newland St. from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The event is designed and run by former service members with the goal of "highlighting employment, educational, volunteer and resource opportunities," the organizers said. This is the sixth year the city of Lakewood has sponsored the fair.

Free flu shots and hepatitis screenings will be available and there will be opportunities for "one-on-one discussions with exhibitors," the city said in a press release.
Food and toiletry donations for homeless veterans will also be collected at the veteran's fair.
