Baby Reported Missing Has Now Died, State Police Say
A one-month-old baby has died after being reported missing, police said. The baby's mother, also reported missing, was seriously injured.
WASHINGTON, CT — A one-month-old baby who was reported missing on Sunday has died, state police said Monday.
At 10 a.m. Sunday, Troopers from Troop L responded to a missing persons report in the area of Brinsmade Road in the town of Washington. Upon arrival, it was determined that Sadie Fleming and her newborn child, Hudson Fleming, were missing, police said.
Sadie left her residence Sunday between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. with the infant. A Silver Alert was issued by State Police in an effort to locate the two individuals.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sadie Fleming was found on a wooded road in Washington, in need of medical attention, police said. First responders treated her and she was then transferred to a local hospital for more advanced medical treatment, police said.
The infant, Hudson Fleming, approximately one-month old, was located nearby in the wood line, police said. The newborn was treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crime Unit are investigating this incident. State Police is working with Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Washington First Selectman James Brinton as the investigation into this incident continues. There is no threat to the public and no other details have been released, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed Sadie Fleming during the time that she was missing or who has anything to add to the investigation is asked to contact Detective Daniel Koehler at Troop L at 860-626-7900.
