Beloved CT News Anchor Announces Return To Air Waves
With a simple post on Facebook, he announced he is returning after a lengthy absence.
Following a lengthy absence, Mark Zinni, the 11-year veteran evening news anchor at WFSB-TV, announced on Tuesday that he is returning to the news desk for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts on Wednesday.
He made the announcement with a simple post on Facebook, which was immediately met with more than 1,000 congratulatory comments and well-wishes. See below.
"I’ll look forward to seeing you," one fan wrote. "Can’t wait to see your smile. Glad you’re back."

Added another, "So excited! I think so many of us will be watching [Wednesday] for sure. Welcome back."
While not going into specifics, Zinni, who recently turned 50, had said that he had been away from Channel 3 for several weeks, "to reset and focus on my well-being."

"The past few months weren’t easy, but they were necessary," Zinni wrote. "With the help of others, I’ve learned a lot about resilience, boundaries, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who lift you up.
"I’m especially grateful for my husband, my family, friends, and colleagues who supported me through this time. I heard from so many people, including current and former coworkers and former bosses who were incredible. The encouragement meant more than they know."
An Ohio native, Zinni's career in television news has included stints at WJW in Cleveland, Ohio; WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island; WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania; and WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, according to his bio.
