Police on Wednesday said Bristol resident David Morales-Sierra, 29, suffered suspected minor injuries when he rear-ended the cruiser around 8:20 p.m. on I-84 eastbound. He was taken to UConn Health after complaining of pain to the face, neck and left hand, according to state police.
State police said Morales-Sierra was driving in the area of Exit 39 when he approached a cruiser that was stopped in the left lane because of a separate crash on the westbound side of the highway. According to state police, the cruiser was marked off with a flare pattern and a taper indicating the left lane was closed.

State police said Morales-Sierra was looking at the crash on the westbound side of I-84 when he struck the police cruiser. A trooper was not in the vehicle at the time.
Morales-Sierra, whose airbag was deployed, was issued an infraction for following too close and failure to have a seatbelt. Both his vehicle and the police cruiser had to be towed.
