CT Hits 2 Important Coronavirus Milestones

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut hit two new records to continue a positive trend in the battle against the coronavirus. Meanwhile, several other states are seeing the complete opposite, with surging cases.

Connecticut recorded 152 new coronavirus cases out of 21,416 test results Tuesday; that is the most test results reported in a single day. The positive test rate was 0.7 percent. The state recorded two more coronavirus-related deaths and one less hospitalization.

“Today’s metrics, with an all-time high in tests reported and all-time low in test positivity rate, reflect momentum in our testing strategy and discipline from the people of Connecticut to wear masks, keep their distance, and follow our guidelines,” Governor Ned Lamont said. “At a time when cases are spiking in so many other parts of the country, we need to keep our guard up and not take these numbers for granted, now more than ever.”

Connecticut was already among the top states in the country for lowest positive test rate, according to John Hopkins University. Arizona's positive test rate is more than 24 percent, Florida's is more than 15 percent and Texas is more than 14 percent.
