Air quality concerns and record high temperatures

"There is also an Air Quality Alert in effect today for our 4 southern counties due to high concentrations of ground level ozone," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Daily high temperatures will challenge records for June 23rd, 24th, and 25th (for Hartford and Bridgeport). We’re now forecasting today to reach a high of 100 (Hartford Area)! This is notable because 100 is the record high for the month of June: it’s only been achieved twice since 1905 for the Hartford Area (in 1964 on the 30th, 1952 on the 26th). When was the last time the temp hit 100, during any month? That was back in 2019, on July 21st. If that isn’t hot enough for you, we’re forecasting tomorrow’s temps to hit an impressive 101! The last time the temperature was over 100 was back on July 22, 2011 when the Hartford Area reached 103. Regardless, with oppressive levels of humidity, heat index values will surpass the century mark all three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (likely reaching 100-110!).

Here come the storms to help break the heat later in the week

"While we start the week dry and bright, there will be an increasing chance for rain/storms beginning on Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday into Friday. Temperatures drop to seasonable levels, if not below, as we close out the week," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
