Special Weather Statement Issued For 4 CT Counties
The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for four counties in Connecticut and snow remains possible on Friday.
CONNECTICUT — A general 1–3 inches of snow and ice fell across Connecticut on Tuesday and the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement as patchy ice is forecast to develop late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
"Below freezing temperatures tonight will make for any snowmelt to refreeze, creating icy and slippery conditions on any untreated surfaces," the National Weather Service said for southern Connecticut. "The gusty winds will dry up some of this moisture from the snowmelt this evening, but there will likely be patches of moisture that freeze tonight. Proceed with extra caution while outside. Motorists should drive slowly and allow for extra spacing between vehicles."
In northern Connecticut, the weather service said temperatures will plummet into the teens and wind gusts could approach 25 mph.

"Behind this storm system, the coldest air of the season arrives," said WFSB 3 TV Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon with Mike Slifer. "Factoring in a breeze, it will feel more like the single digits (perhaps below zero in spots) by Wednesday morning. Despite ample sunshine that afternoon, highs will only be in the mid to upper 20s....Thursday, we expect an increase in cloudiness as the day progresses with a chance for flurries. The next timeframe to watch is Friday as another coastal storm develops and its track relative to CT will dictate what type and how much precip we could receive. For now, Friday appears to feature a mostly cloudy sky with an increasing chance for snow through the afternoon and evening hours. It’s a fluid situation..."
"Friday night’s system appears to be on its way out by daybreak Saturday. Provided this, we’ll start cloudy... then clearing takes place, with our sky becoming partly to mostly sunny by afternoon. The BIG story for the weekend will be the arrival of even colder air! Temperatures Saturday start in the teens and only peak between 20 and 25! It will be downright blustery as the wind will make it feel even colder. Wind chill values will likely drop to the single digits, perhaps near/below zero. Sunday is dry and bright, but continued cold. Temps likely start out in the single digits then top out in the mid-20s. While still breezy, it shouldn’t be *as* windy as Saturday," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
