‘Powerful’ Nor’easter Could Produce ‘Significant’ Impacts On CT: What To Know

Meteorologists said odds are increasing that a strong nor'easter could produce significant impacts on Connecticut.

A nor’easter is expected to hammer the East Coast, including Connecticut, on Sunday and Monday, according to meteorologists.

AccuWeather forecasters report it may be “more akin to the powerful nor'easters that ramp up along the coastline during the winter months, without the snow.”

Rain, high winds and coastal flooding are expected to impact the East Coast, including Connecticut, according to AccuWeather.

"Along the immediate coast, winds are likely to get strong enough with this from southeastern Virginia to Delmarva, New Jersey and southeastern New York and possibly southern New England to lead to tree, power line and property damage," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook that includes southern Connecticut, indicating a coastal storm could produce strong winds and widespread coastal flooding Sunday into Monday.

Nor’easter could have significant impacts on CT

WTNH is reporting a tropical system or nor’easter could “significantly impact” Connecticut’s weather from Sunday through Tuesday, with “periods of rain, strong wind gusts, and coastal high tide flooding.”

NBC Connecticut said its meteorologists are closely monitoring the possibility of a “strong nor'easter this weekend.”

“The likelihood of this happening is increasing as weather models come into agreement,” the station reported.

WFSB meteorologists have declared Sunday and Monday as First Alert Weather Days with wind and rain arriving Sunday and lasting through Monday due to the coastal storm. WFSB anticipates the wind and rain will impact outdoor plans and potentially even travel.
