Multiple Rounds Of Thunderstorms Forecast For CT, New Flooding Concerns Arise
Here are new details on when to expect thunderstorms and renewed flooding concerns for Connecticut.
CONNECTICUT — Rain and thunderstorms continue to be in the forecast for the state, according to meteorologists.
“Rounds of rain” will continue throughout Connecticut on Tuesday, according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
The station said severe weather today is not likely, but a strong storm can’t be ruled out.

“The ground is already saturated so additional heavier rain could lead to poor drainage flooding, also for smaller streams/creeks to rise,” WFSB meteorologists said.
Jim Connolly, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in New York City, said Tuesday morning there has been up to three inches of rain so far, with the potential for about another inch through tonight.

“It is a slow moving system,” Connolly said.
According to Connolly, the state will mostly experience showers Tuesday, with a chance for a thunderstorm later today.
Forecasters anticipate a potential reprieve from the rain late Wednesday into Thursday.
On Thursday, the National Weather Service predicts more showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon.
“We have already declared a *First Alert Weather Day* for Friday as there could be a renewed concern for flooding from more rain,” WFSB reports. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
The weekend is looking to be drier and sunny for Mother’s Day festivities, according to forecasters.
“Sunday looks like the day we finally improve,” Connolly said.
