Severe Thunderstorms May Bring Hail, Heavy Rain, Strong Wind Gusts To CT

A timeline for potentially severe weather across Connecticut has been released by forecasters. Here are the full forecast details.

CONNECTICUT — If you have outdoor plans on Saturday, you'll want to be weather-aware as strong-to-severe thunderstorms could pop up, especially in the morning hours and then later in the afternoon and evening too, according to forecasters.

"Saturday is a *First Alert Weather Day* with an increasing risk of storms, some of which may be strong or even severe," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "The first round will be in the morning as a warm front lifts north. These storms could produce lightning and heavy rain but may also bring strong wind gusts or hail. The Storm Prediction Center has now placed all of CT in a level 1 risk for severe weather while the level 2 risk includes western parts of the state. Outdoor plans (prom pictures, college graduations) could be impacted. If you’re outside and hear thunder, head inside and let any storminess pass by. High temperatures will be in the 70s. Some partial clearing is possible in the afternoon ahead of the cold front. A bit more instability could develop with any sunshine we see, so the cold front may spark another round of storms in the afternoon or evening as it crosses." (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).

The good news is that Sunday looks sunny with temperatures into the 70s, but winds could gust up to 25 mph. Next week, temperatures drop and daytime highs will only be in the low 60s with more rain possible on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
