Fugitive Wanted For Murder In Mexico Hid In Connecticut: Feds

ICE agents arrested the man June 12, officials announced Tuesday.

CONNECTICUT — A fugitive wanted in connection with the slaying of a law enforcement official in Mexico has been captured after hiding in Connecticut, federal officials announced Tuesday.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Orlando Diaz-Cebada June 12, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Officials described Diaz-Cebada as a criminal illegal alien from Mexico and member of the Los Pochos gang.

The Los Pochos gang is known to traffic drugs for the Sinaloa Cartel, according to the government.

Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, said Diaz-Cebada had been attempting to “evade justice by hiding out in Connecticut.”

“Thanks to our brave ICE law enforcement and federal partners, this criminal illegal alien fugitive wanted for murdering a law enforcement official in Mexico is off America’s streets,” McLaughlin said.

Mexican authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Diaz-Cebada for aggravated homicide in April 2024.

Diaz-Cebada is currently in ICE custody pending removal proceedings to Mexico, according to the government.
