OAKVILLE, CT — A GoFundMe launched to help the family of a newborn baby who was diagnosed with a severe immune deficiency disorder and will need to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

Parents Eric and Samantha Rovinetti were thrilled when they welcomed their firstborn child, Adrianna, to the world in November, GoFundMe organizer and family friend Jeff Fonti said.

Adrianna was diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency, a rare genetic condition that leaves her heavily immunocompromised. Eric and Samantha stopped working on doctor advice to reduce the risk of Adrianna being infected with a disease that could be devastating.

Adrianna will undergo chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant at Boston Children's Hospital in an effort to boost her immune system, Fonti said. The recovery time is about six weeks, and Eric and Samantha will have to stay in Boston during that time.

"This GoFundMe is to assist Sam and Eric with any lodging, food, parking, and medical expenses while they are caring for their baby," Fonti said. "This will be a long and un-navigated road for the Rovinetti’s and any donation will be greatly appreciated."
