LifeStar Transports 2 After Motorcycle Crash in Torrington: Police

The two motorcycles were traveling close together when they collided, according to police.

TORRINGTON, CT — Two motorcycle riders suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday evening in a crash on Winsted Road, according to police.

Lt. Michael D’Autorio said the accident happened around 7:32 p.m. near the entrance to the Lowe’s shopping plaza.

When police arrived at the scene, they found two motorcycle operators lying near their respective motorcycles.

Police identified the victims as Nickolas Newman, 32, of Torrington, and Spencer Parent, 31, of Colebrook.

LifeStar helicopter transported both men to Hartford Hospital, according to police. Newman sustained a serious leg injury while Parent sustained a serious head injury, according to D’Autorio.

Investigators determined the men had been traveling close together, both northbound, on Winsted Road. The motorcycles collided as they entered the intersection with the main entrance to the shopping plaza, which is at 420 Winsted Rd. The impact caused both operators to be thrown from their motorcycles, police said.

The Torrington Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
